Who We Are

TrustLayer is a mobile and web application designed to help you assess suspicious messages, links, and screenshots. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

What TrustLayer Does

TrustLayer analyzes content you provide to identify potential scam indicators. It shows you suspicious signals, provides a risk assessment, and offers verification guidance.

Important: TrustLayer is an assistive tool. It does not guarantee detection of all scams or fraud. Always verify through official channels.

Data We Process

On Your Device (Local)

  • Messages and text you paste for scanning
  • Screenshots you upload for analysis
  • Your scan history
  • Your trusted entities list
  • App preferences and settings

This data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.

Sent to Third Parties

  • URLs only (Premium feature): When you use Live Link Reputation, URLs are sent to Google Safe Browsing to check against known threat databases.
  • Anonymous analytics: We collect anonymous usage data (feature usage, app performance) via PostHog to improve the app. No personal information or message content is included.

Third-Party Services

Google Safe Browsing

Premium users can check URLs against Google Safe Browsing. Only the URL is sent, not any surrounding message content. See Google's privacy policy for details.

PostHog Analytics

We use PostHog (EU-hosted) for anonymous analytics. We collect:

  • Feature usage (which scans are used)
  • App performance metrics
  • Crash reports

We do NOT collect: message content, personal information, or device identifiers.

No Account Required

TrustLayer does not require an account. We don't collect your name, email, or any personal identifiers.

Data Retention

  • Local data: Stored until you delete it or uninstall the app
  • Analytics: Aggregated data retained for 12 months
  • URL checks: Not retained by TrustLayer (Google's retention applies)

Deleting Your Data

  • Delete scan history: Settings → Delete Scan History
  • Delete trusted entities: Settings → Delete Trusted Entities
  • Delete all data: Uninstall the app

Children's Privacy

The TrustLayer iPhone app performs analysis locally on your device. We do not collect or store the content you scan.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Significant changes will be communicated through the app.
